The easiest way for a business or organization to support the club is to buy an advertising spot. There are several different ways that the club offers ads, and many businesses choose to do more than one.
Book ads are a club tradition and are done once a year in our annual membership booklet. Many of these businesses have connections to curling club members, but that is not required. This format is nice because the ads are produced at minimal cost and can be customized very easily to send a message to curlers. Our membership books reach our entire membership and their families as well as visitors to the club who browse through a booklet.
In-ice ads are a unique way to advertise a business and the GFCC has been using them for many years. These ads are also done once a year in fall before the first floods are completed. They will remain frozen in the same spot until we turn off the compressors in the spring. In-ice ads are great because they can be reused for many years without losing clarity or color. Businesses that are interested in doing ice ads should let the club know by early October so that we can print them on special material. There is a cost to have them printed, but that is usually minimal and only happens that first year. Right now we have more room for ice ads, but they are quickly becoming popular and there may be limited space in the future.

Online advertising is something that is new to the GFCC and we haven't completely explored all the possibilities. On our website we currently have Google Adsense which provides links and the club gets paid per click on that link. The ad to the left is an example. You can find more of these ads on the home page. One advantage is that these ads cost nothing to produce and the club gets paid directly. The disadvantage is that we have no control over who is advertising and we like to support local businesses when possible. In the future there may be a better way to advertise locally online.
We will soon be building a new club, and that opens opportunities for in-kind donations. Businesses who have applicable labor, tools, or materials can offer their services without charge or at a reduced cost to the club. These donations are also tax-deductible. Many businesses have already done so or plan to assist once we start building.
We thank all of our club sponsors greatly and appreciate all they make possible at our club. Without them, we would not be able to offer reduced memberships to students and new members, and our current dues would be much higher. There are too many to list in this post, but come on down to the club and you will see all of our great sponsors that make curling possible in Grand Forks!
